Worship

We welcome ALL to attend our variety of services at St. Peter’s Chapel! We offer four worship services every summer weekend.

Services vary from the Eucharist celebrated with much silence, outdoors, in the Celtic Contemplative Tradition on Saturday’s beginning with a bagpipe prelude at 4:30 pm and the 5:00 pm service with guitar accompaniment, to a simple, quiet, spoken service on Sunday at 8:00 am, followed by a dynamic service with organ and hymns at 9:00 am, and finally a simple service welcoming even to the youngest child, celebrated at 10:30 am in the tradition of the Taizé Community in France.

The joy of music is heard at all our services through singing, and, depending upon the service, preludes &/or accompaniment by organ, bagpipers &/or acoustic guitar.

We include ALL (children, youth, adults) in the preparation and leadership of our four weekend celebrations of the Holy Eucharist- as worshipers, greeters and ushers, lay eucharistic ministers, musicians, homilists and interpreters of scripture, artist, bakers and florists, and more!

At St. Peter’s Chapel we celebrate the Holy Eucharist according to the 1979 Book of Common Prayer and the Hymnal 1982 of the Episcopal Church. We understand the liturgy to be “the work of the people” (not as something done by bishop or the priest for the people), but as something ALL those gathered join with the priest to offer for the sake of the world.

Preaching is from the biblical texts in the Prayer Book’s three-year lectionary cycle, and our music and songs are familiar, singable, beautiful melodic hymns and songs.

We welcome ALL people- those of faith, of no faith, or in search of faith.

Please join us, we are so glad you are here!
